"Cap. On your left."

Image
Steve shakes his head, trying to clear it. Slowly, SOUND RETURNS...AND THE WORDS RING CLEAR: SAM WILSON (O.S.)  Cap. On your left. When we get back out there and walk into work and school and church or onto the playground or the basketball court or wherever else your community is -- it's gonna be like this isn't it? Hearing the crowd in this clip (below), I don't know what it was, and I struggled with telling anyone this but...I cried. Like --muffling my mouth with my hand so no one heard me and tears rolling down my checks -- cried. I don't know, man, I just cried. This scene makes me feel close to God and closer to all of you. There a handful of movie scenes that do this and this is one for sure. This scene is the communion of the saints. It’s salvation and redemption and running the race set before you. I may not be perfect but please know, "I'm on your left..." (The picture is a link to the tweet as well)
Not that anyone's been here for a while but I'm going to be starting a new blog. Something that can be a comfortable home for whatever is this next phase of being a writer. It involves podcasting and books. Anyway, I don't like talking about it because then I won't do it. See you, whomever you is, out there somewhere. aaron

I made a second Kurosawa tribute video

Image
Why did I make a second Kurosawa video? Because, one isn't enough for him and his body of work. And those actors, writers, DPs, ect. And because I was laid up for 2 months due to illness and a few operations so that's what I did. I like to think of this one as the "Life is Hard (Especially if you're a character in a Kurosawa film)" video. Thanks for watching. Below are the links to both. The second one - Kurosawa Supercut # 2 The first one (30 in 30) -  Kurosawa - 30 in 30 +  Bonus Super Cut enjoy

Kurosawa - 30 in 30

Kurosawa 30 in 30 - Plus Bonus Supercut It has been a long time since I had much to talk about in regards to any personal creative efforts. I've got all the amateur excuses lined up. But that's a topic for another day, and rest assured, I have been writing again. BUT today is about Akira Kurosawa. To most film fans and filmmakers he is a a familiar name. I'm not here to argue if he's the best or if Ozu's better (they were friends so I'm not sure they would have cared for the argument) because how can we really determine that. I simply wanted to make a super cut that paid a little tribute to a filmmaker who has a significant impact on me. That's it. I admire him and his very frequent collaborators (both cast and crew!) a great deal and this was a fun way to show them off. I highly recommend his autobiography, Something Like an Autobiography and Waiting on the Weather: Making Movies With Akira Kurosawa by Teruyo Nogami. The second book is equal p

Watch Gōtham, TX now!

The movie that takes 11 minutes to watch but 2 years to make lives! Go watch Gōtham, TX now. Tell your friends but don't tell their friends. We wouldn't want to make things awkward in line at the grocery story for myself and my collaborators.

GŌTHAM, TX is coming. For Reals!

GŌTHAM, TX LIVES! Really. It does. "Can I watch it online right now" you ask? Well, actually, no. No you can't. But soon. Soon you shall be able to. For now we had our premiere this past Sunday, October 26th at the Four Day Weekend theater courtesy of our old friends, Endeavor Cinema . Had a great turn out and got some good laughs- A big relief for any filmmaker who has made a comedy. We had the honor of sharing the screen with the short, Slow Wave, from Endeavor's own, and as well as the one and only indie TV show, Ghost Breakers. Keep an eye out for more screenings soon. We are looking into festival submissions as well but the plan is to have the film available online, for free, by the end of the year. On a related note, Blood Guilt (the short western we were unable to make before Gōtham, TX) has found new life as a webcomic via the very cool app, Scrollon . It has not released yet but that will change very soon. It is created and co-written by myself

OK, spread the word - Here are all 4 early teaser trailers for our new short, Gotham, TX. There will be more of a push for marketing material when the movie has been edited. Right now, that's just beginning. After that there will be be a time where Josh and Alison Brown score the film. We're excited that this time, unlike with " Dirge " or " Proxy ", they actually get to see the movie before they write and record the score. So, no deadline yet. We've got our eye on some festivals or interesting ways to premiere it online but for now, we are in post production. "Gotham, TX" was written and directed by Aaron Kirk John Mark Clawson is both the Cinematographer and Editor Josh and Alison Brown are writing the score The film is produced by Aaron Kirk and John Mark Clawson Rachel Lake co-produced And Executive Producers Todd White, Matthew Bramlett, and Cilton Beard came through at the last second when the future of the shoot seemed to be d
